Why visit
The Valle dei Templi is reason enough, the Tempio della Concordia is among the best-preserved Greek temples anywhere, and the on-site museum holds the giant telamon statue. Visit April through June or September to October for mild temperatures and almond blossom (early February). Pair with Scala dei Turchi white cliffs nearby.
When to avoid
Do not visit Agrigento expecting every worthwhile stop to be close together or easy to improvise. In Agrigento, a good plan starts with the constraints, not with the number of sights.
