Why visit
Batumi has a strange, compact mix, palm-lined Black Sea promenade, all-night casinos, the magnificent Botanical Garden, fresh khachapuri Adjaruli (boat-shaped cheese bread baked here), and easy access into the lush Mtirala and Machakhela valleys. Best months are May, June, and September, warm, swimmable, but before/after the high-season Russian and Israeli crowds.
