Why visit
May through September is best, when the long sandy beach and Promenade Marcel-Proust come alive. Sit on the Grand Hôtel terrace where Proust wrote, walk the seven-kilometre boardwalk, and visit the Cabourg Romantic Film Festival in mid-June. The town pairs naturally with Honfleur, Deauville, Bayeux, and the D-Day landing beaches further west.
When to avoid
Do not visit Cabourg expecting every worthwhile stop to be close together or easy to improvise. In Cabourg, opening hours, transport, weather, crowds, and distance can shape the day more than the list of sights. In Cabourg, it is better to build a tight route than to rely on long transfers between secondary stops.
