Why visit
April through October is the dry season with mild evenings (remember the southern hemisphere). Headlines: the Carlos Gomes Municipal theater, the Bosque dos Jequitibás urban forest, and the surrounding wine country (the Roteiro do Vinho around Jundiaí). Brazilian-Italian food culture is strong here, the local pasteleiras and family restaurants serve excellent polenta and gnocchi alongside Brazilian feijoada. Day trips reach Holambra (a Dutch immigrant flower-growing town).
When to avoid
Do not visit Campinas expecting every worthwhile stop to be close together or easy to improvise. A route through Campinas works best when opening days, transport, weather, and distance are treated as cultural logistics, not afterthoughts. Street crime and traffic shape the visit. Keep phones and cameras discreet, use taxis or rideshares after dark, and avoid letting one beach or nightlife district define the whole trip.
