April to June and September to October are ideal. The Mar de Aragón (the artificial reservoir created by the Mequinenza dam, on Caspe's edge) is a major water-sports and sport-fishing destination, freshwater anglers come for catfish (siluro) the size of small dogs. Visit the collegiate church for the rare Castle-of-Caspe altarpiece, walk the old town, and explore the Iberian archaeological park. Easter Holy Week processions are intense in Bajo Aragón.
Caspe is a half-day stop unless you're fishing or boating on the Mar de Aragón. Mid-summer is very hot on the open plains, often over 35°C. The town center empties on Sunday afternoons. Don't expect Zaragoza-level dining or attractions. Use Caspe with a local route rather than a constantly expanding one. In Caspe, it is usually better to choose a nearby church, market, cafe, gallery, or walk than to cross town for a secondary stop.
