Why visit
December through February (the cool dry season) is best for the city's compact historic core and Sangley Point. Visit Fort San Felipe ruins, the small Cavite City Museum (in the former Spanish naval headquarters), and walk the malecón along Manila Bay for sunset over the city. Cavite City is also a launching point for ferries (when running) to Manila across the bay, a quicker alternative than the highway crawl. The Independence Day parade on June 12 is locally important.
When to avoid
Do not visit Cavite City expecting every worthwhile stop to be close together or easy to improvise. In Cavite City, opening hours, transport, weather, crowds, and distance can shape the day more than the list of sights. For Cavite City, check the practical conditions first, then decide whether walking, transit, or a taxi makes sense for each move. If the main interest is one nearby site, it may be better to treat Cavite City as a base rather than the whole destination.
