Why visit
Chongqing is a vertical China city of rivers, hotpot, hills, bridges, night views, and routes toward Dazu. It works when the trip wants an enormous inland city with landscape baked into the street plan.
When to avoid
Do not visit Chongqing expecting every worthwhile stop to be close together or easy to improvise. In Chongqing, opening hours, transport, weather, crowds, and distance can shape the day more than the list of sights. In Chongqing, it is better to build a tight route than to rely on long transfers between secondary stops. If the main interest is one nearby site, it may be better to treat Chongqing as a base rather than the whole destination.
