Why visit

The Mezquita-Catedral alone justifies the trip. 800 jasper and marble columns under candy-striped arches. Add the medieval Jewish quarter, Roman bridge, Alcázar gardens, and the May Patios Festival when private courtyards burst into geranium-soaked bloom. Smaller and slower than Seville, twice as atmospheric.

When to avoid

Do not visit Córdoba expecting every worthwhile stop to be close together or easy to improvise. In Córdoba, opening hours, transport, weather, crowds, and distance can shape the day more than the list of sights. For Córdoba, check the practical conditions first, then decide whether walking, transit, or a taxi makes sense for each move. If the main interest is one nearby site, it may be better to treat Córdoba as a base rather than the whole destination.
