Why visit
Two Ibizas in one, the UNESCO Dalt Vila with its Phoenician necropolis, cathedral and ramparts, and the global megaclub scene at Pacha, Ushúaïa, Hi and Amnesia. Add the breathtaking Es Vedrà sea-stack at sunset, the hippie markets at Las Dalias, the Cala d'Hort beaches, and a Mediterranean food scene of grilled sardines, sofrit pagès, and orange-zested flaon cheesecake.
When to avoid
June to September is mobbed and prices triple. Clubs charge €80 entry and bottle service runs into the thousands. Drink-spiking and drug-related medical emergencies happen, watch your drink and pace. Sundown crowds at Es Vedrà can be wild. Local resentment of mass tourism is rising. Respect noise rules in residential areas. Ferry strikes and August storms can disrupt onward travel.
