Why visit
The Sedlec Ossuary is the obvious draw draw for many, a small Catholic chapel where bones form chandeliers, garlands, and a coat of arms. Deeply unsettling and memorable. Pair it with the breathtaking St. Barbara's Cathedral, walk the Italian Court to see medieval coin minting demonstrations, and descend into a real medieval silver mine on the Czech Museum of Silver tour. Kutná Hora is an easy day trip from Prague but rewards an overnight to experience it without crowds.
When to avoid
Sedlec Ossuary is now ticketed with timed entry and photography is restricted (since 2020) due to disrespectful behaviour by some visitors, don't expect to take selfies. Day-trip crowds from Prague swarm midday in summer. Arrive at opening or stay overnight. Winter snow makes the steep cobbled streets slick. Most museums close on Mondays. Czech crown is the local currency. Many small shops don't accept euros.
