La Muela rewards a brief stop rather than an overnight, the Wind Museum (Museo del Viento) explains the wind-power industry that defines the plateau, and the surrounding turbine fields are striking on a clear day. Most travellers fold it into a Zaragoza visit, the Aragonese capital with its UNESCO Mudéjar architecture, Roman walls, and the mighty Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar is 30 km east. The Cariena wine region (DO Cariñena) lies just south.
There's not much in town to detain visitors, plan around Zaragoza or the wine country. The plateau's strong winds (responsible for the wind farm) can be uncomfortable for outdoor walks year-round. Limited accommodation. Driving past the wind farm at night requires alertness for low-flying birds startled by the turbines. The corruption scandal damaged the town's reputation and finances. Some public services remain limited.
