Lagos rewards travellers ready for full-throttle urban energy. The Nike Art Gallery on Lekki Peninsula has 8,000+ Nigerian artworks across five floors. The Lekki Conservation center offers a long canopy walkway over coastal mangrove. And the New Afrika Shrine (run by Femi Kuti) honours the Afrobeat legend Fela. When to avoid
Crime including armed robbery, kidnapping, and 'area boy' shakedowns is real. Stick to recognised hotels and gated areas, use registered ride-share (Bolt or Uber), and don't display valuables. Traffic ('go-slow') can paralyse the city for hours. Budget extra time. Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory. Bring proof. Take antimalarial prophylaxis. Avoid photographing government buildings, bridges, or military. ATM scams are common, use bank-branch ATMs only. Check current advisories.
