When to avoid
The West Bank carries serious travel advisories, check current guidance before booking, as situations shift rapidly. Israeli military checkpoints around Nablus can close without notice, especially during periods of unrest. Avoid the Balata refugee camp area unless with a trusted local guide. Friday prayers and political demonstrations can lead to clashes. Photography of soldiers or checkpoints is forbidden. Travel insurance often excludes the West Bank, confirm coverage.
