Why visit
Stolac is a Herzegovina stop for necropolis sites, stone bridges, rivers, Ottoman layers, and quiet roads between Mostar and the coast. It works when the trip has room for smaller history.
When to avoid
Summer heat can be severe, and public transport connections are limited. Stolac is much easier with a car, a driver, or a clear transfer plan. Do not compress the visit if you want to see the surrounding sites properly. Opening information can be informal, so verify practical details locally. If you are traveling without interest in archaeology, Ottoman architecture, or landscape history, it may work better as a short stop than an overnight base.
