Târgoviște's Princely Court complex (Curtea Domnească) and Chindia Tower are the most direct historical link to the real Vlad the Impaler, climb the tower for sweeping views and Vlad-themed exhibits. The Princely Church, the medieval Stelea Monastery, and the Mitropoliei Cathedral round out the religious heritage. The Ceaușescu execution site at the former military barracks is open as a memorial museum, a sobering visit.
