Thusis is a Swiss rail-and-valley base for Alpine passes, the Viamala gorge, train movement, and routes toward the tectonic landscape of Sardona. It works when the journey is part of the mountain day.
Do not assume Thusis can be managed as a single easy circuit. In Thusis, treat hours and movement as part of the itinerary. For Thusis, group stops by area and keep enough slack for closures, slow transport, and limited hours. A route through Thusis needs slack when the hotel, station, and main sites sit apart.
