The abbey, together with its monumental entrance, the famous 'Torhall', are rare architectural vestiges of the Carolingian era. The sculptures and paintings from this period are still in remarkably good condition.

Abbey grounds, herb garden, and Abbey Altenmünster are freely accessible daily until dark. Museum Center: Tue-Sun and holidays 10:00-17:00. Lauresham open-air lab has its own seasonal schedule, with 2026 season Mar 8-Oct 31 and guided-only access on weekends/holidays.
