AluaSoul Orotava Valley worked well for a slow week in Tenerife. The crowd skewed older and I did not get a ton of sun, but the price was right and I was upgraded to a suite with a genuinely nice view. The room itself was pretty spartan rather than plush, so the upgrade was more about space and outlook than luxury.
The food was medium quality, more college-dorm buffet than destination-hotel dining, and the hotel is about a 10-minute walk down into town, so it is not truly central. Still, for a quiet base where I could slow down, use the room, and not overpay, it made sense. I would return with the right expectations.
