About
The railway reached San Carlos de Bariloche in 1934 after a difficult route across the Patagonian steppe. That connection changed the scale of tourism and freight in a town that had previously depended on slow overland and lake routes. The station is included in Bariloche's municipal architectural and urban heritage inventory.
The building stands east of the center near the lakeshore, not within the compact downtown hotel area. It is the Bariloche terminal for Tren Patagónico and the regional service toward Ingeniero Jacobacci when those trains are running. Plan the transfer into town separately because the station is not a walkable arrival for every hotel.
