Estación González Bastías

González Bastías is the most revealing intermediate stop on the Talca-Constitución branch. The station opened in 1894 as Infiernillo and later took the name of poet Jorge González Bastías. The railway is still the settlement's central piece of infrastructure rather than something left at its edge.

The station and its turntable form part of the branch's 2007 National Historic Monument designation. Local food traditions grew around the waiting train as well, particularly the venteras who sold tortillas de rescoldo to passengers. This remains a small rural stop with limited backup transport, so the working timetable matters more than its appeal as a historic place.
