Estación San Francisco de Mostazal

San Francisco de Mostazal station opened in 1861 as the southern railway pushed from Santiago toward the agricultural center of Chile. Its rectangular building borrowed the language of the early Alameda station, with covered corridors, octagonal wooden pillars on carved stone bases, and classical timber arches. It became a National Historic Monument in 1981.

The old building suffered major damage in the 1985 and 2010 earthquakes. Restoration status can differ from the operating railway, so do not read a closed historic doorway as a closed train service. EFE's regional trains between Santiago and Rancagua use the modern platform at the same station site.
