Estación Temuco

The railway reached Temuco on January 1, 1893 and turned the city into the operating center for lines across La Araucanía. Long-distance trains once changed locomotives here, while branch services spread toward towns such as Carahue and Cunco. Today's station is the transfer between Tren Araucanía services to Victoria and Pitrufquén.

The best-known railway heritage in Temuco is not inside the passenger station. The Pablo Neruda Railway Museum occupies the former roundhouse about one kilometer north. That complex was rebuilt between 1937 and 1941 with 34 radial tracks around a 27-meter turntable. Treat the museum and working station as two separate places.
