Worst 24 hours ever. I could end my review at that, but in the interest of sharing with other travelers I will expand on my statement. Unless you are taking a car long distance or have no other option I would avoid Grimaldi lines. I took the ferry from Barcelona to Civitavecchia in July 2021. During a global pandemic I will start by saying there is absolutely no way to socially distance unless you confine yourself to one of the very dirty cabins that is not only cramped, but completely disgusting. I've taken alot of ferries in my travels, and this one was by far the most tired, worn out, dirty ship I've ever been on. Bring several books or something to do, there was absolutely no wifi, and once you get away from the coast there is obviously no mobile reception. I never look to a ferry for a Michelin star dining experience, but after the boredom the terrible food is the next worse thing. I sprung for the "premier" dining option my first night and paid 30 euros for a dinner that was cold and obviously came out of a vacuum sealed bag. There wasn't even an attempt to make it appetizing. I figured I would stick to sandwiches, but those too were also unappetizing, dry, and generally tasteless. That leaves not much else to do but maybe drink for the voyage and hope it passes quickly. The ferry I took was hosting a Zumba cruise of some kind the day I was on it. During a pandemic there were hundreds of Zumba-ers in close quarters blaring terrible music all day long. Super spreader event anyone? I love taking ferries, but will never again take Grimaldi in my life.
