Estación La Plata

La Plata's main railway station opened in 1906. Paul Bell Chambers and Louis Newbery Thomas combined a formal Classical composition with Art Nouveau details, including the tiled dome and iron entrance canopies. The building is one of the more distinctive gateways into the planned city.

Roca Line trains connect the station with Plaza Constitución in Buenos Aires. The station also anchors La Plata's local rail and bus connections, but it sits outside the city's famous diagonal street pattern rather than directly on Plaza Moreno. The historic roof was restored after more than a century of use.
