Otto Wagner Pavilion Karlsplatz

The two pavilions at Karlsplatz were built as entrances to Vienna's Stadtbahn around 1900. Otto Wagner built a steel frame, inserted white marble panels, and covered the edges in green-and-gold ornament.

Both pavilions were taken apart, restored, and put back when Karlsplatz was rebuilt for the U-Bahn in the 1970s. The western one now holds a three-room Wien Museum exhibition about Wagner. From outside, look at the iron frame and the ornament around the doors and roof. The pavilion sits between the Secession and the opera side of the Ring, so it fits into the same walk.
