Cozumel, Mexico
This place sucks is the understatement of the century. I’m a Globalist and this gives Hyatt a black eye in my book. To start with: don’t expect the hotel to actually book any amenities or add-ons you pay for in advance. I booked spa services and had a confirmation but the hotel had 0 record of them. Next, expect an old dingy room where things probably won’t work. My experience: no water in the shower, missing faucet handles, and mold everywhere. If the hotel advertises special events, seriously stay away, they aren’t actually real. Case in point: they advertise the US/England World Cup match. Luckily I have a tablet, Sling, and a VPN. They did “try” to open a trashed club to show it after I and my new British friends pressed them (as they advertised it” but there was poop all over the restaurant, they would not have a server, couldn’t get the game on the tvs, and the bar itself was not actually cleaned from the night before. Thank god for the internet! Advertised restaurants were shut for private parties when I showed up. My question about restaurant reservations was answered with “oh no wait, just show up.” The lie detector determined “that was a lie.” Don’t expect the staff to know a thing about Hyatt benefits either. If you have status, you’ll just get told “we’re completely booked” as a front desk person looks at their phone when the hotel is half empty and you can book any room for that night on Hyatt’s website. Overall, this place is terrible. Save the headache and learn from my mistake.
Other places in Cozumel I have actually slept at, with the same kind of room-and-breakfast notes you just read.
