St. Peter's Church

The church dates its earliest predecessor to the fourth century, when this was still the Roman camp of Vindobona. The building you see now is Baroque and was constructed from 1701 to 1733. Its oval green dome is squeezed into Petersplatz, one block from the much larger Gothic St. Stephen's.

The front is easy to miss from Graben because the surrounding buildings hide most of the church until you turn into the square. It is still an active church, with daily Masses, confession, organ recitals, and evening music. Check the service schedule before walking in. If a service is underway, stay at the back or return later.
