Winjet Fast Ferry Playa del Carmen

I would avoid Winjet if at all possible if you’re looking for a relaxing or clean trip to the islands. I chose to sit outside, terrible mistake. Each row has a designated number of seats, the family next to me decided to squeeze an additional 2 people over the designated limits… ok I’ll stand. Apparently that’s a safety issue but overcrowding your ferry is not, so I sat for an hour being sat on literally by a sweaty stranger with my arm wrapped around a column because they don’t let you move once the boat is loaded.

If you do choose to forego my warning and choose to sit outside, you’re involuntarily forced to listen to a small concert so you’ll be unable to speak with your travel companions. If you sit inside, be warned the ferries are in rough shape. I’ve taken lots of ferries before, this one is definitely a bottom 3 experience, if not the worst ferry I’ve ever had the “pleasure” of taking.
