Mike’s notes

Breisgau S-Bahn is the regional suburban railway serving Freiburg. Services represented here include S1, S10, S11, S2. Branches and distinct stopping patterns are kept separate so the route diagram does not invent a connection.

The Breisgau S-Bahn developed from a regional program to run frequent local trains around Freiburg. The routes reach the Rhine plain, Black Forest valleys, and towns east of the city.

Tickets and trains

Use the local transport association’s ticket or app. The Deutschland-Ticket covers participating S-Bahn and Regio-S-Bahn service, but not ICE, IC, or EC trains. Check the dated journey in the operator planner when engineering work changes the route.

Service frequency, train length, and the final destination change by time and day. Read the destination display rather than assuming every train covers the entire colored line.

Accessibility

Step-free access varies by station, and an elevator outage can change an otherwise accessible trip. Check the operator’s current station and disruption information when step-free travel is essential.
