Dresden S-Bahn is the regional suburban railway serving Dresden. Services represented here include S1, S2, S8. Branches and distinct stopping patterns are kept separate so the route diagram does not invent a connection.
Dresden adopted the S-Bahn name in 1974. The Elbe corridor is the core of the network, with services continuing toward Meißen, Saxon Switzerland, the airport, and Kamenz.
Tickets and trains
Use the local transport association’s ticket or app. The Deutschland-Ticket covers participating S-Bahn and Regio-S-Bahn service, but not ICE, IC, or EC trains. Check the dated journey in the operator planner when engineering work changes the route.
Service frequency, train length, and the final destination change by time and day. Read the destination display rather than assuming every train covers the entire colored line.
