Riding the line

Fare rules differ by line and can change during staged openings. Check Metrofor’s current notice and carry a local payment backup rather than assuming every branch uses the same gate system.

Current rolling stock and ride conditions: The South Line uses electric metro trains. The West and Northeast lines use diesel light-rail vehicles, while the airport shuttle uses its own short branch operation.

Parangaba is marked as an interchange in the network data. José de Alencar and Chico da Silva are central transfer points between rail corridors. Expedicionários connects the Northeast and Airport lines.

Accessibility: Newer metro and airport stations have lifts and level boarding. Older surface stops on the diesel corridors are less consistent.

The Airport Line currently ends at Aeroporto. Castelão remains outside the operating passenger section.

Check Fortaleza Metro for the current timetable and operating notices.
