Kazan Metro Central

Kazan Metro began service in 2005. This line reached its present terminals through later extensions and operating changes.

Tickets and trains

Single rides are sold at station machines or ticket windows, and local transport cards may reduce repeat-trip fares. Foreign-issued contactless cards cannot be assumed to work, so keep a local payment option.

Train generations vary from Soviet-era fleets to newer walk-through cars. Peak-period crowding is common in the largest systems, and older stations were not designed around step-free travel.

Accessibility is station-specific. Newer stations are more likely to have lifts, while many older deep stations rely on escalators and stairs. Check the operator’s station page before a trip that requires step-free access.
