Tren del Fin del Mundo Fin del Mundo–Parque Nacional

The Fin del Mundo to Parque Nacional line runs from Estación Fin del Mundo to Estación Parque Nacional beside the Pipo River. Cascada La Macarena is the intermediate stop on the 7 km route.

The prison began building a wooden-railed railway in 1902 and later replaced it with a metal Decauville line. Prisoners used it to carry wood and stone back to Ushuaia. After the prison closed, the railway served local sawmills until earthquake damage led to its abandonment. The reconstructed tourist line opened on October 11, 1994.

Reserve a specific departure online and arrange transportation to Estación Fin del Mundo separately. The train ticket does not include admission to Tierra del Fuego National Park. Check both purchases before leaving town.

The current rolling stock pairs purpose-built and restored steam locomotives with heated coaches, broad windows, and audio commentary in nine languages. The Macarena stop allows a short climb toward the waterfall viewpoint, while the train itself continues through forest that cannot be reached by the public road.

Stations have access ramps, and the operator reserves coaches for wheelchair users. Passengers using Argentina's CUD process should contact the operator directly. The Macarena path is a separate physical-access question from boarding the train.
