Brama w Karkonosze | Gateway to the Giant Mountains
The arcaded Plac Ratuszowy old town is one of Lower Silesia's loveliest. Use the city as a base for the Karkonosze National Park (UNESCO biosphere), the Karpacz and Szklarska Poręba ski resorts (10 to 15 km away), the famous Vang Stave Church transplanted from Norway, and the trail to Mt. Śniezka (1,603 m). The Cieplice spa quarter has been taking the waters since the 13th century.
Do not visit Jelenia Góra expecting every worthwhile stop to be close together or easy to improvise. In Jelenia Góra, opening hours, transport, weather, crowds, and distance can shape the day more than the list of sights.
