About

Buffalo Bayou Park is a 160-acre linear park running from Shepherd Drive to Sabine Street, just west of downtown Houston. The ten-foot-wide Sandy Reed Memorial Trail follows both sides of the bayou and carries walkers, runners, and cyclists. The narrower Kinder Footpath runs closer to the water and is reserved for people on foot. Green Tree Nature Area adds a short wooded path near Waugh Drive. The park also contains public art, gardens, the Water Works visitor area, and the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern. Lighted areas stay open later than unlighted sections. The official trail map is useful because paths cross the bayou several times and individual facilities keep separate hours.
