Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús

From Caseros Street, the Church of the Society of Jesus presents a restrained stone facade with two bell towers and five narrow windows. Inside, the main feature is the Paraguayan-cedar vault, assembled like the inverted hull of a ship and finished with gold leaf and American Baroque decoration. The church follows a Latin-cross plan, with the former Spanish chapel to the south and the former Indigenous chapel, now the Lourdes Chapel, to the north.

The Jesuits took possession of the block in 1599. Construction ran from 1640 to 1676 under Felipe Lameire, with European, Indigenous, and enslaved African workers. It is the oldest surviving church in Córdoba city and forms the religious center of the Jesuit Block, listed with five rural estancias by UNESCO in 2000. The church is still active. Posted visitor hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00-13:00 and 16:30-20:30, and can shift around services.
