Mike's review
Visited 2025Libreria Acqua Alta is still a really cool Venice stop: part bookstore, part curiosity cabinet, with a genuinely nice selection. I have bought things here a couple of times, not just taken photos.
The caveat is overtourism has changed the experience. It is not a browse-for-an-hour bookstore now; once you enter, the flow is basically one way through the shop toward the cashier, like a busy grocery-store funnel. Expect a lot of people taking Instagram photos.
The cats are part of the charm. You do not have to go inside for that; one of them often hangs out around the front.
From the source
A famous Venice bookstore that felt more like a one-way photo stop than a browseable bookshop, though the cats still made it memorable.
