My favorite museum in Madrid. The collection sits inside a working 19th-century iron-and-glass train shed which is most of the appeal. Family programming runs on Saturdays and Sundays. Hours are short; check the day's opening before you go.
Madrid's railway museum, housed in the former Estación de Delicias (1880). The covered platform holds restored steam, electric, and diesel locomotives and a long line of historic passenger cars and royal-train carriages. Exhibits cover the development of Spanish rail and contemporary high-speed equipment.
