Visited 2021Convenient, and you can find what you need. Two things make this location stand out. The building itself has real history, look up from the produce section and you can see the old stone arches and columns built into the store. The hot and pre-prepared food counter is also good value for an inexpensive meal.
The downside: a couple of the cashiers were rude to me without any real reason, more than once during my stay in Split. It wasn't a one-off.

SPAR supermarket built into the ground floor of the Mala Papalićeva palača, a 13th-century palace with a Gothic loggia, inside the walls of Diocletian's Palace in Split's old town. Gothic column bases and arches sit among the shop shelves. The site falls within the UNESCO World Heritage boundary of Split's historic core, though the building itself isn't separately listed. A supermarket chain (Billa, later absorbed into SPAR) opened here in 2014, drawing some local criticism for the use of a protected interior.
