Visited 2018This is the place in Split where I kept ending up, especially at dusk. The Riva is not complicated: waterfront, palms, palace walls behind you, ferries and reflections in front of you, and enough cafes around it that sitting down for a drink never requires a plan.
I liked it most as a reset between heavier old-town stops. It gives the palace area breathing room, and at night the water makes the whole front of the city feel calmer than the alleys behind it.
