Tbilisi Funicular Lower Station
Tbilisi, Georgia
Mike's review
This is the lower station of the Tbilisi funicular, which climbs Mtatsminda, the hill over the city, up to Mtatsminda Park. The ride is short and steep and saves you the walk, but the real reason to take it is what waits at the top. The park is a hilltop amusement grounds with a Soviet-era feel: wide views over Tbilisi, a Ferris wheel, roller coasters and fairground rides, and a couple of restaurants where you can eat looking down on the city. There were cats roaming the grounds when I went.
Practical notes: it's a paid ride, and fares and card rules change, so check before you go. It runs year-round, but confirm the current hours if you want a late trip.
