If you’re visiting Phuket and like the grandiose you should definitely stop by. Be advised you must dress appropriately so covered knees/shoulders are a must (coverings count). With the taxi situation in Phuket it’s best to hire a driver if you didn’t rent your own car, and see this with several other local sites in a 1 day excursion.
