Weinstadel and Henkersteg look picturesque, but the uses were practical. The Weinstadel is a huge half-timbered building on the Pegnitz, originally connected with care for lepers during Holy Week and later used as a wine depot from 1571.
Henkersteg connected the executioner's isolated residence with the city. There was a wooden crossing here by 1457, later rebuilt after flood damage. The river view is pretty, but the history is stranger: leper care, wine storage, civic punishment, flood repair, and postwar restoration in one small scene.

The Weinstadel and Henkersteg form a preserved riverfront ensemble of a medieval wine depot and covered footbridge over the Pegnitz.
