Athens Tram 7

T7 connects the Akti Posidonos loop in central Piraeus with Faliro, Pikrodafni, Glyfada, and Asklipiio Voulas. It is the long coastal tram, useful for trips between the port city and the southern beaches without returning through central Athens.

The coastal tram opened in 2004 and was extended into central Piraeus in 2021. That extension operates as a one-way loop, so inbound and outbound trams use different stops through the center of Piraeus.

A 90-minute urban fare costs €1.20. Supported Visa and Mastercard bank cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay can be tapped at a platform validator. Ath.ena Tickets also work when validated before boarding, and contactless urban fares are capped at €4.10 per day.

T7 uses articulated low-floor trams with climate control, including 25 newer vehicles added from 2021. The line can be crowded on warm weekends and runs slowly through street sections, so it is better suited to direct coastal travel than a timed ferry connection.

Raised platforms provide accessible boarding, but approaches often involve exposed road crossings. In Piraeus, check the direction and stop name carefully because the return loop does not retrace every central stop. Around the coast, cross the tracks only at marked points and watch for trams in both directions.
