Biotrén Line 2 connects Concepción with San Pedro de la Paz and Coronel. The train crosses the Biobío immediately south of Concepción, then follows the Route 160 urban corridor.
The Coronel extension opened in 2016. It gave the coastal communities a rail alternative to one of Greater Concepción's most congested road approaches.
Concepción is the only rail transfer, connecting with Line 1 and the regional Laja train. Bus connections handle local movement away from the narrow railway corridor.
Peak trains can be crowded, particularly in the commute direction. Some operating plans add short workings, so check that Coronel is shown as the destination for a full-line trip.
The standard Biotrén electronic fare system applies. Validate as directed at the station and retain enough balance for the return.
The bridge provides a broad view over the Biobío, then the line becomes a practical suburban railway. Stations are surface platforms, with accessible routes varying by surrounding road crossing.
