Brasília Metro serves Brasília. The Brasília Metro is strongest for trips between the central bus station, Águas Claras, Taguatinga, Ceilândia, and Samambaia. The monumental axis and many federal buildings still require a bus, taxi, or long walk.
Commercial service began in 2001. The Orange and Green routes share the central trunk, then divide after Águas Claras for Ceilândia and Samambaia.

Current rolling stock and ride conditions: Electric trains run underground through the central area and on surface or trench alignments farther west. The long station spacing reflects Brasília’s spread-out layout.
Central sits beside the Plano Piloto bus terminal. Águas Claras is the branch decision point, so read the train destination before boarding westbound.
Accessibility: Stations were built with lifts or ramps, but equipment outages can break an otherwise step-free trip. Confirm access when a lift is essential.
Several mapped extensions remain projects. The operating distinction is the Ceilândia branch versus the Samambaia branch.
