Mitre Line Mitre: Villa Ballester–Zárate

The Mitre Villa Ballester to Zárate branch connects the electric suburban network with General Pacheco, Benavídez, Escobar, Campana, and Zárate. Change at Villa Ballester for trains to or from Retiro.

The corridor opened as part of the Central Argentine Railway's nineteenth-century main line toward Rosario. Long-distance trains still use the broader route, but this stopping service now works as an outer extension of the Mitre commuter network.

Use SUBE for the metropolitan fare and check the current timetable before traveling. Departures are much less frequent than trains between Retiro and Villa Ballester, so a missed connection can mean a long wait. Service can also be shortened when track work affects the main line.

Diesel rolling stock covers the branch rather than the modern electric fleet used into Retiro. Expect simpler interiors, limited seating at busy times, and a slower stopping pattern. Wheelchair access and high platforms are inconsistent at the outer stations, so confirm boarding assistance in advance when needed.
