Tren de la Costa Tren de la Costa: Avenida Maipú–Delta

The Tren de la Costa Avenida Maipú to Delta line connects Vicente López with the riverfront side of San Isidro and Tigre. At Avenida Maipú, walk a short block to Bartolomé Mitre station for trains toward Retiro. Delta is near central Tigre but separate from the Mitre terminal.

The corridor opened in the late nineteenth century as a branch of the northern railway. Passenger service ended in 1961, leaving the riverfront route unused for decades. It reopened in 1995 as the Tren de la Costa, with rebuilt stations and a light-rail style identity.

Use SUBE for the fare and allow time for the street-level transfer at Avenida Maipú. The line is short, but departures are less frequent than the main Mitre branches. Weekend day trips can fill trains and make the small stations feel crowded.

Compact electric trainsets provide the service, with more limited seating than a full commuter train. Platforms are high, but wheelchair access, ramps, and station facilities are not uniform across the route. Check current service notices and the required station before relying on a step-free trip.
