The Tren de las Sierras runs from Córdoba to Cosquín, then continues through Valle Hermoso, La Falda, La Cumbre, and San Esteban to Capilla del Monte. A complete trip takes about five hours.

The restoration began in 2007 with work between Rodríguez del Busto and San Roque, followed by the extension to Cosquín and an urban connection to Córdoba Mitre. Trains returned to Valle Hermoso on August 9, 2021 after 24 years. The final operating section to Capilla del Monte opened on November 16, 2023.

Current trains run every day in two sections. Córdoba trains terminate at Cosquín, and separate trains continue between Cosquín and Capilla del Monte. A complete trip requires a connection there, so both rows need to be checked before buying tickets online or at an enabled office. Contactless bank-card payment is not listed at the platform.

Diesel railcars provide basic seating over the meter-gauge Ramal A1. The slow schedule follows the Suquía River and San Roque reservoir before entering the linear towns of the Punilla Valley. The current luggage limit is one hand bag up to 10 kilograms and 45 by 35 by 25 centimeters.

The operator does not publish a station-by-station wheelchair boarding guide. Platform height and facilities vary outside Córdoba. Alta Córdoba appears on the route diagram but has no scheduled calls in the January 2026 timetable.
