Córdoba has two officially listed regional passenger corridors. The Tren de las Sierras runs from the city through the Punilla Valley to Capilla del Monte. The separate Villa María route approaches Córdoba Mitre from the southeast through Río Segundo and Toledo.
The first restored section opened with an experimental service and infrastructure program in 2007 between Rodríguez del Busto and San Roque. A second stage restored the railway to Cosquín, while a separate urban project connected the route with Córdoba Mitre. Trenes Argentinos now operates both the suburban and mountain sections.
Trains returned to Valle Hermoso on August 9, 2021 after 24 years, adding 16 kilometers north of Cosquín. Service reached Capilla del Monte on November 16, 2023. A 2026 operating authorization covers the railway as far as Cruz del Eje, but it does not extend the current passenger timetable beyond Capilla del Monte.
The current Tren de las Sierras schedule runs every day but treats Córdoba–Cosquín and Cosquín–Capilla del Monte as separate sections. A complete trip therefore requires matching two trains at Cosquín. Tickets are sold online and at enabled offices.
Villa María–Córdoba began as a provisional Ferrocentral service authorized in 2004. Trenes Argentinos still publishes the 4-hour 30-minute route and its ticket options, but no dated timetable is attached to the current page. The archived schedule took effect in 2018. Treat the route as unconfirmed until a current departure can be booked.
Diesel equipment with basic seating serves both corridors. The Tren de las Sierras luggage rule permits one hand bag up to 10 kilograms and 45 by 35 by 25 centimeters. Station facilities range from Córdoba Mitre to simple outer platforms, and the operator does not publish a complete accessibility guide.
